Dry Rot

Dry rot damages deciduous woods and pinewood, mostly around the joists,
beams, stands and wedges of a structure or unused timber stored in cellars.

It can be identified by the brown destructive rotting as well as cube-shaped
cracking and tearing across the timber fibres.

In order to restore dry rot damaged buildings (in accordance
with the DIN 68 800) a series of processes have been stipulated to ensure
adequate measures are taken to eradicate the fungus.

These processes range from correctly identifying the cause, to removal of
damaged and infested timber and masonry.

Finally, taking appropriate action to treat and reconstruct all affected areas.

All restoration work must be performed or supervised by a fully trained
and qualified person.

Registered products exclusively, must be used to treat the infestation.

Damp Proofing Cellars

To achieve satisfactory results when restoring seriously damp damaged cellar or basement walls, an informed decision must be made to ensure that the appropriate treatment method is utilised.

If exterior excavation of the affected walls cannot be achieved, renovation must be
accomplished from the interior.

If this method is selected, the interior surface must be meticulously cleaned and prepared for a successful conclusion to the restoration project.

Various methods are available, from impregnation using valve plugs, to applying breathable sealants together with a final layer of renovating plaster.

A damaged or non-existent damp course can result in rising damp. These horizontal barriers can be subsequently installed or repaired appropriate to the type of masonry.
